Day 2-3 of my PPC to CPA Life

So basically, I have NOT started a PPC to CPA campaign yet. I got distracted by some Australian bodyboarder friends coming into town, one of who just finished making my new video. (teaser here) I also been working on bodyboard distribution deals and potential rider contracts for one of my brands as well as 80 other boogie board stuff.  But, I read A LOT of tutorial and advice blogs and have posted affiliate banners on a few of my sites but zero conversions so far. One being bodyboarder.com. I don’t really expect too much from these sites compared to PPC to CPA but it does get pretty descent traffic and ranks # 1 for keyword Bodyboarding on all search engines.

Anyhow so I have been reading sites linked from Uber Affliates Marketing Guide which has been great

I have been super excited about the potential to make some serious cash. By serious I mean 15K minimum plus PROFIT per month (I don’t expect to make this right away at all) but then I got to Zac Johnsons blog where he does teach some good stuff about how to set up campaigns and everything we need to know as affiliate marketers. But then I saw a link to his post “$50,000 in NeverBLueAds Earnings I was not impressed at all by this, well I was but it was not motivating because the time period was over 6+ months. I already do 50K in sales a month appx with my retail store and its various online stores. I was thinking “f&8k” this guy is tech as “f*%k” and he is only making 50K over 6 months plus he had to have some solid costs in there so maybe 30K profit at very best. I may as well just concentrate on growing my real business. Then I noticed his post on the very top “How I Made $860k PROFIT in 4 Months! I went there. Now that is what I am talking about, this guy is a genius, but most of this was not really made with CPA. It was mostly with Yahoo Publisher network and the guy capitalized on a very good myspace resource site. I can’t make that, and it is too late anyhow to go there. Zac has done an amazing job on the net and I love the knowledge his blog has. I just started reading Zacs blog, so I will now go read his whole blog need to find out how much he is making now (I am sure it is a hell of a lot more than $50,000 in 6 months) and other successful blogs to get motivated again about PPC to CPA to learn some more. A LOT MORE

I have been able to join 3 great affiliate networks. I have seen some campaigns that interest me.  But I don’t want to spend money when I do not fully understand everything yet.

The main things I need to do before starting my campaigns are

  • - Learn more about A/B split testing (don’t know how yet)
  • - Learn how to build sweet Landing Pages
  • - Learn a lot more about tracking

After that I think I am ready to start my first campaign and learn a hell of a lot more.

I think I will have my first campaign up by Monday morning which I feel is good search time judging from order activity at my online stores.

OK I will update soon, thanks for reading if anyone has. And if I saw anything stupid it is because I am a total rookie.

Cheers

Es

  • You want motivation, check out Jonathan Volk at http://www.jonathanvolk.com - he averages about $170k a month, with September 2008 (recently) being his best month making almost $270k in one month!

I wonder what he’ll do with that, that is like a car alone lol.

  • From what I see your expecting too much, and when you don’t succeed it’s gonna hit you hard.

Regardless of your previous experience, this shit DOES take time to learn and cannot be learnt without trying fully your self and spending your hard earned cash.

It took me 2 months to find a stellar campaign which only pulls roughly $1600 a month at 1000% ROI. Campaigns are hard to come by unless your extremely dynamic and can adapt to anything.

Also be prepared to loose a lot of money in your first 3 months WITHOUT finding anything decent. This is a hit and miss game, and your experience comes by time - not by numbers. You’ll learn everything in due time; trust me on that.

Join all the networks that have a good reputation such as CPA Empire, Copeac, Never Blue Ads, Hydra Network, Max Bounty, Ads 4 Dough and maybe CX Digital. The other major one is Commision Junction which has everything under the moon. This way you’ll have all the inventory and offers to get you started.

I suggest joining Yahoo Search Marketing (see my blog for coupons) and AdCenter alongside Google as from my testing they have a far better conversion rate (I’m talking 50% ROI compared to 700% in some cases).

You might want to stop browsing Digital Point forums for a while and make a swift move to Wicked Fire. Believe me, DP will only bring you down in affiliate marketing. Read around Wicked Fire for a day or two constantly before even posting so you can get a feel for it and have some information upfront.

Tracking is another key thing in Affiliate marketing. One of the best pieces of free software is Prosper202 self hosted. This is an ABSOLUTE MUST to be successful. It will tell you which keywords are converting, what your EPC and ROI is etc. Check it out and if you get stuck ask Wes on the P202/T202 forums. He’s a great guy.
